Default AP: Feds collect giant rats in Florida

AP - As the rising sun danced across Florida's coastal waters, government workers in shorts and T-shirts knelt in a grassy island field and plucked wriggling rats from traps laid the night before. These weren't just any rats. They were 3-pound, 35-inch-long African behemoths. They squirmed as the workers, wearing protective gloves, removed green radio collars that had been tracking the rodents' movements.

The problem with human technological capabilities is that we as a global society are able to have a huge impact on the ecosystem before we fully understand the consequinces. Even something that seems insignificant (like moving a few hundred rats from one continent to another for the pet trade) could have serious results.

On another note, I thought it was hilarious that Doth managed to smuggle five green tree pythons into the country by just wrapping them around himself under his shirt.

Ive seen pictures of rats the size of cats and i no that in parts of the USA this is becoming a huge problem.

Big rats is not the problem, The main problem is the stupid man who thought that this african rats can be selling like pets. and Of course, people who buy this rats like pets.

Dont blame the rats.
