I think he deserve so much this honor, now Hawking is in my modest opinion, one of the most brilliand mind in the world.

Im not a scientific like him , but Im agree with that: ""The long-term survival of the human race is at risk as long as it is confined to a single planet," he said. "Sooner or later, disasters such as an asteroid collision or nuclear war could wipe us all out. But once we spread out into space and establish independent colonies, our future should be safe."

The guy's an idiot ... he advocated colonizing other planets

to save us from overpopulation. He's a scientific farce !

I have thought this for a very long time, we can't just expect to sit here on Earth, space is the only way that the survival of humanity can be assured.

What an ignorant statement. You call a great scientist an idiot? Expansion into space IS solving over population, unless you propose that there should be genocide or starving campaigns? Earth can only sustain so much human life!

He's extremely intelligent and I definitely agree that he deserves the award. Whether or not you agree with his advice, he's no idiot.
