AP - Japanese researchers have discovered a new and sluggish kind of seismic activity that helps reveal the inner workings of faults capable of producing massive earthquakes like the one that generated the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami.

It makes me nervous just to think about more natural disasters these days. Hopefully countries and cities around the world are working on becoming safer in earthquakes/tornados/hurricanes/etc.

it is very scary that more natural disasters like that can occur again. i hope that governments take things more seriously for now on.

Science (seismic science) is advanced enough to predict this kinds of earthquakes quite accurate; they worked very hard on it since 2004.
A few organizations have a seismic network all over the world, to analyse every seismic activities, and thanks to this those organizations can collect information, and use that to predict earthquakes ...
Then it's to the autorities of the countries affected to rescue their population ...

Well, I have no doubt that there are global organizations with enough equipment and experienced staff to determine when, where, and how harshly an earthquake can strike... my concern is that not enough will be done about it, before and after the event.

They sorts of activites will be on the increase over the next couple of years due to the way we are living and how we are destroying the world.

I live in Peru, My house is in Lima the capital of Peru.
We had more than 10 little earthquakes every year, is very common.
For example in octuber we had like 10 little earthquakes one of it 5.6 richter scale.
